Agritourism
Agritourism involves any task of agriculture that can be shared by visitors to a farm or cottage. The agritourism includes a wide variety of activities, including purchasing products directly from a farm, walking in a field of corn, harvesting seasonal fruit, animal feed, or hosting a rural housing. Concepts such as wine tourism and rural tourism are associated with agritourism. Agritourism is one of several forms of tourism in rural areas practiced by farming families willing to share their way of life with the inhabitants of the urban environment. It is known that farmers who offer quality services, value and respect the environment and nature, as well as the local culture and tradition. This type of tourism can convey and allow to know this way of life to the visitors, who stay on their rural farms and perform the same agricultural tasks together with the hosts. It is this last characteristic that distinguishes it from other forms of rural tourism. People feel increasingly interested in how to produce their food, and they want to talk to farmers and producers about this topic. For many people who visit a farm, especially for children, the visit marks the first time that the source of their food is seen, whether it's a cash cow, an ear of corn growing in a field, or an apple they can reap themselves of a tree. Agritourism helps the population of urban centers to understand the important role of agriculture and rural life in our own history, allowing the visitor to experience what being part of the land is. Agritourism in Quinta Calçada do Souto Quinta Calçada do Souto is a farmhouse located in the demarcated region of Vinho Verde (green wine), in Northern Portugal.
