Flora in the municipality of Marco de Canaveses

The area of the Douro and Minho, to which belongs the municipality of Marco de Canaveses, is an area of very diverse flora. It holds many forests, groves and pine woods, but also a large agricultural area. The terrain is varied but predominantly mountainous, and the pine woods mix with the cultivated fields. Its climate is temperate and Mediterranean with no great extremes. The type of topography and climate naturally define the flora that grows in this region, both spontaneous and cultivated, as well as provide the ideal environment for the proliferation of local fauna.
